The Anchorage Women's Program

About the Program

Each woman entering our program will receive a Life Recovery Bible, Life Recovery Workbook, Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, and a Client Handbook detailing general policies and procedures. These books are used extensively in the program and are covered by the Application Fee.

The Anchorage's approach to treatment for alcohol and drug abuse has proven highly successful for over 70 years. Thousands of alumni of the men's program lead a successful and fulfilled life today that began with a stay at The Anchorage, and we know that God will do the same for our women. Our prayer is for women to gain a newfound freedom and radically new way of living through our successful system of discipleship.

Our treatment program progresses in phases:

Phase I - Admission

Admission: Open to all participants in the Anchorage's recovery program.

Duration: 180 Days

Purpose:

This phase is designed to focus the client on her spiritual condition and personal issues. The program components of this phase are:

Bible Study
Chapel
Individual Counseling
12 Step Work
Group Recovery Classes
Daily Assigned Work Duties
Community Outreach
Outside Church Services
Sponsor Networking
Life Skills Development

Restrictions:

No personal visits or phone calls for the first 30 days. Personal written corresponence is allowed.
Radios, cell phones, and other communication technology is not permitted.

Progression after the first 30 days:

Clients are permitted to make phone calls on Saturdays using the office phone.
Clients are permitted to have visitors on Sundays
One overnight pass may be granted at the discretion of our Program Director.

Phase II - Recovery through Faith

Our second phase plays a pivotal role in restoration and preparation for a return to family, church and work life outside of The Anchorage. Through discipleship, counseling, and implementation, our goal is to have our clients reach their full potential as Godly Women, Mothers, Wives, church members, and productive contributors to community. Upon graduation of Phase II, clients should realistically have reliable transportation, savings, restored family lives and experience living a Christ centered life.

Admission:

Based on successful completion of Phase I
Clients can apply for Phase II via written application to the Clinical Director

Duration: 240 Days

Purpose:

Enables the client to build on the successes she has experienced during her first 180 days at The Anchorage.

Requirements:

Obtain an AA or NA sponsor
Attend a predetermined number of chapels and outside meetings (AA, Celebrate Recovery, Small Groups, etc.)
Find full-time employment in the area
Open a Checking and a Savings account.
Pay 25% of her earnings on a weekly basis to The Anchorage to begin paying a small portion of her care.
If the client does not have a High School Diploma or GED, will enter into a GED program.

Granted permissions:

Ability to attend church services in the Albany area.
Visits and weekend passes are allowed.
All correspondence is allowed
Personal cell phone
Personal vehicle

Admission Requirements

Must be de-toxed with 5 days absence of alcohol or drugs
Must have a permanent address
Must provide documentation from an accredited medical source that the client is clear of: Tuberculosis, Hepatitis A, B and C, HIV/AIDS, and all STDs’ within 90 days
Must have a state issued ID
Must not be court mandated or have legal or medical issues that would prohibit completion of the 24 week program
Must be physically able to participate in all program activities
Must resolve all personal health care issues prior to admission
Must not have a co-occurring disorder
Individuals on prescription medications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Clinical Director
Individuals will not be considered for admission having violent criminal or sexual charges pending or on record
Completion of a Criminal Background Check is required
Any applicant having attended 5 or more treatment programs will only be admitted with special permission from the Executive Director and Clinical Director.
A negative result on an initial point- of -care pregnancy test is required prior to admission. A repeat pregnancy test will be performed within 14 days after admission.

Attire and Personal Belongings

Dress Code

Clients are required to always wear appropriate clothing while residing at The Women's Anchorage. Clients are permitted to wear shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops or sandals if it is appropriate for a Christian environment. No flip flops are to be worn in chapel. Everyone must wear a bra and underwear at ALL times! No new piercing or tattoos during your stay here. No type of head coverings (bonnets) is to be worn during your stay at The Women's Anchorage. Hoodies may be worn as long as the hood is not worn on the head. No ripped clothing is to be worn. Pants are to be worn at the waist (no sagging). Shirts must be worn at all times outside of the dormitories. No bedroom slippers are to be worn at any time outside of your bedroom.**
